Grimm Retellings
This is a great collection of stories that take their inspiration from Grimm's Fairytales. Some of the stories are better than others and some are deliciously dark. There is one tale that could be a trigger (it contains incest). That one was a bit difficult to read - no details, but still.
These are some of my favorites:
The Key by Rachel Hawkins
A psychic's daughter learns a dangerous lesson about interpreting visions.
Figment by Jeri Smith-Ready
A young musician receives a stuffed animal in his father's will. How will this affect his music career and his life?
The Twelfth Girl by Malinda Lo
A strange story of popular college girls and what they are willing to do to stay popular.
The Raven Princess by Jon Skovron
A cursed princess tries to find a man worthy of breaking her curse.
Beauty and the Chad by Sarah Rees Brennan
This was a very entertaining version of Beauty and the Beast.
A Real Boy by Claudia GrayThis was a thoughtful twist on
This was a thoughtful twist on Pinocchio, with robots. (I loved this one.)
Sell Out by Jackson Pearce
A boy with the power to bring the dead back to life (with a kiss) faces a difficult decision.
All of the authors have written other YA books and some you may recognize like Kimberly Derting who wrote the Pledge trilogy and Claudia Gray who wrote the Evernight series.
